A good ad-man will always be able to write ATL copy and headlines.
But only a good journalist can write good BTL copy.

Don’t trust an ad-man who doesn’t understand the journalistic process. I trained as a journalist before I became a creative. Most ad-men try to sell to their audience. They’re wrong. Learning how to entertain an audience an integral part of learning how to write.

Two Reviews

A review is a perfect pitch. When you’re reviewing something, you’re either telling someone to buy it, or telling them not to. They say everyone’s a critic, but some are better than others. Take a look at these examples and see which book you’d rather buy.

Review: The Alchemist (Paulo Coelho)
Review: Some Hope (Edward St Aubyn)

Burlesque: a rant

I had to do a feature for a listings magazine I was writing for on the subject of burlesque dancing. After a week interviewing strippers, I was climbing the walls. An online magazine offered me the chance to let off some steam. I think burlesque sucks. After reading this, I think you will, too.

Burlesque sucks!
